It is defined as “the manual manipulation of muscular structure and soft tissues of the human body (including muscle, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments).” Scientific studies have shown that massage therapy can improve functions of the lymphatic system, help regulate hormones and can prevent many injuries.

Types of massage we offer

Swedish Massage: Stimulates circulation with five basic kneading strokes (which can be performed either soft/gently or firmer), all flowing toward the heart to manipulate soft tissue.

Deep Tissue Massage: Utilizes deep-tissue/deep-muscle movements to treat chronic muscular pain, injury rehabilitation and reduce inflammation-related disorders such as arthritis.

Sports Massage: Warms the body, improves blood flow in muscles/tissue to help prevent or treat injuries. They are performed pre-event, post-event, and part of preventative injury treatment plans.

Prenatal Massage: Reduces lower back or leg pain, increases emotional well being, and is effective and safe for both mother and fetus. Mom lies on her side or on her belly with a special medical pregnancy pillow.

Here at Align we offer enhancements that can be added to your massage therapy session at a minimal cost.

These enhancements are:

Aromatherapy: We only use 100% Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils extracted from herbs, flowers and fruit. The use of essential oils offers many benefits. While using them with your massage it may help reduce stress, inflammation and pain.

Hot Stone Massage: The direct heat of the stones relaxes muscles, allowing the therapist access deeper muscle layers. Combining hot stone with a full body massage provides a very healing and effective experience. The hot stones also expand blood vessels, which encourages blood flow throughout the body. The hot stones have a sedative effect that can relieve chronic pain, reduce stress and promote deep relaxation.
